A “Slowmation” (abbreviated from ‘Slow-motion Animation’) is a new teaching approach that uses a simplified form of claymation (stop-motion animation) to engage students in using technology to create their own animations of science concepts. These student-generated digital animations can be enhanced with narration, labels and real-life photos

Steps to creating a slowmation:


Step 1. Write down what you want to demonstrate about mitosis
Step 2: Deconstruct the process of mitosis and break it down based on the different phases
Step 3: Reconstruct mitosis by ' Chunking' different phases into a series of diagrams and decide how you could demonstrate these on a movie;

Step4: Using playdough construct your model and take pictures using a digital camera;
Step 5: Create your slowmation;
Step 6: Oral presentation. Explain to the group or the whole class the process of mitosis
Step 7: Teacher assess students' understanding and provides feedback.
